In October, two prominent figures of the Czech art scene — Jiří Šorm (born 1957) and Martin Frind (born 1963) — will be presented at the Rock Café Gallery. Šorm, an academic painter and graphic artist, draws inspiration from his travels to exotic lands and the world of ancient cultures; combining expressive abstraction with figural elements, the play of light, colour and spatial objects, which often take on symbolic forms.

Frind, also known as the ‘underground painter’, is deeply rooted in the Czech cultural and social context. He studied at the School of Applied Arts and the Academy of Fine Arts, went through periods of experimentation and engagement – his works often reflect the times, identity and history, without rose-tinted glasses, but with a deep emotional and intellectual charge.

The exhibition opening will take place on Wednesday, October 1, at 7 p.m.
