The oldest club in Prague. Music. Theater. Café
Irena Procházková is returning to Rock Café after six years with an exhibition called Euphoria!
The author was born in 1973 in Tábor. She currently lives and works in Prague. She started her professional painting career in 2016, when she established her own studio and had her first solo exhibition. She has also taken her work around the world, exhibiting in New York, London, France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Mauritius and Dubai, where she represented the Czech Republic three times at Art Connect Women.
Her painting is strongly influenced by the art movements of the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, especially Impressionism, Fauvism and Expressionism. She was also greatly influenced by her ten-year apprenticeship with the academic painter Bedřiška Uždilová.
The author belongs to the artists who are characterized by an essential colourism. Colour, which she often kneads in a sculptural way, has a very central meaning for her. Her canvases exhibit a bright and distinctive colour palette dominated by ultramarine blue. She enjoys working in the traditional manner of painting – oil on canvas – from real life models, still life or plein air. Her paintings are artistic captures of memories and reflections from personal experiences, or events and social phenomena in society, which she reflects on and
which she processes through her work.
Irena Procházková’s works are represented in public galleries in the Czech Republic and
Italy and are part of many Czech and foreign private collections.
