The oldest club in Prague. Music. Theater. Café
An exhibition of unique artworks by handicapped orphans from a countryside orphanage in China will open in the Rock Café gallery at 18:00 on Thursday, April 6. The artists were profiled in a Tomáš Etzler’s film “Heaven”. You are cordially invited to the opening, where the works of the artists will be offered for sale.
The idea to bring these artifacts from China to the Czech Republic was born several years ago. Despite numerous obstacles, the works finally arrived to Prague (via Beijing, Chiang Mai in Thailand, and Hamburg). They will be shown in the Rock Café gallery until the beginning of May.
Er-bao paints due to her handicap with her mouth and feet. Da-bao, a quadriplegic, embroiders tapestries and assembles mosaics with her mouth. Both artists were abandoned as infants and raised in a catholic orphanage run by Sister Wang.
The exhibition will be opened by author of the film, Tomáš Etzler.
The musical accompaniment will be provided by music producer, sound designer and the music composer for the film “Heaven” Pierre Savage.
The earnings from the art sale will go to these artists and to Sister Wang’s charity. She continues to provide medical care for disabled children and cares for the elderly, poor and abandoned in rural China.
