After a great show at Rock for People 2023, the dynamic duo Nova Twins returns to the Czech Republic. The pair of singers will arrive with their latest single “Monsters” on 25 September at the Rock Café.
Over the past few years, Nova Twins have become one of the most visible and transformative forces in contemporary music. Since emerging from the independent UK scene, the singers have earned a Mercury Music Prize nomination, become two-time BRIT Award winners and continue to rewrite the rules of what a modern rock band can achieve. They have dominated iconic festivals from the UK’s Glastonbury to Japan’s Summer Sonic with their performances, and have shared stages with legends such as Foo Fighters, Muse and Bring Me The Horizon, with whom they have also had musical collaborations.
Praised by such icons as Rage Against the Machine’s Tom Morello (“an incredible band”) and Elton John (“phenomenal”), the duo have graced the covers of Kerrang!, NME and Alternative Press magazines and picked up awards at the Women in Music Awards, the AIM Awards and the Nordoff & Robbins Awards, to name but a few. Their nomination for the Mercury Music Prize in 2022 put their names in the history books as the “First Black Rock Band” to receive the nomination, a victory not only for the duo, but for music culture as a whole.
Nova Twins are known for their energetic live performances and distinctive sound. Every note is the result of real instruments – bass and guitar – combined with rich, inventive vocals. As a result, their music has an unmistakable identity without a single synthesizer in sight.
The artists were born and raised where South East London becomes Essex, and spent their early years sketching and creating, literally and figuratively, the Nova universe. The family around them instilled in them the courage, faith and determination needed to navigate their fierce world with cleverness and agility. Faced with an industry that did not reflect or support what they saw in the mirror, the young women, the Nova Twins, decided to inspire positive change.
