American progressive/metalcore band Between The Buried And Me is returning to Prague! On March 18, they will present their new album, The Blue Nowhere, which will be released on September 12. Get ready for a unique mix of technical death metal, progressive rock, metalcore, and many other completely unexpected genre detours.

Between The Buried And Me (BTBAM for short) was formed in 2000 in Raleigh, North Carolina. They took their name from the lyrics of a Counting Crows song and from the beginning distinguished themselves by their efforts to transcend genre boundaries. Their music combines technical death metal, progressive rock, metalcore, jazz passages, and acoustic moments, creating a colorful and unpredictable sound. Their debut album from 2002 brought a fierce mix of metalcore and progressive elements, but the real breakthrough came with the albums Alaska (2005) and Colors (2007), which are still considered milestones of modern progressive guitar music.

The band, led by singer and keyboardist Tommy Rogers and guitarist Paul Waggoner, is known not only for its technical precision but also for its conceptual approach to album creation. For example, The Parallax II: Future Sequence (2012) offers a sophisticated sci-fi story that intertwines across songs and musical motifs. The musicians often alternate aggressive growling with clean vocals, extremely complex guitar riffs with melodic passages, and hard rhythms with unexpected genre detours, making them a favorite among fans who seek originality and adventure in metal.

Over the years, BTBAM has built a reputation as a band with uncompromising live performances. At concerts, they are able to faithfully reproduce even the most complex compositions, often playing entire albums from start to finish, and are not afraid to experiment with lighting and visual elements. Their discography includes both monumental, hour-long magnum opuses and shorter, more accessible recordings. Despite their complexity and experimental approach, they maintain a devoted fan base and are considered one of the most influential progressive metal bands of their generation.
