On Thursday, April 20 at 7:00 p.m., Tomáš Etzler will be showing his documentary film “Heaven“, which is his personal testimony combined with the tale of a catholic orphanage in rural China.
The raw and severe reality of daily life in China, which Tomas experienced for seven years, contrasts sharply with the kindness and unconditional love he discovered in a semi-legal orphanage for handicapped children in the northeast of the country.
The film was awarded at several festivals in the Czech Republic, including the Audience Award at the Ji.hlava International Documentary Film Festival, won the award from the Czech Film and Television Association and was nominated for the Czech Lion last year.
After the screening Tomáš will reveal what he knows about the fate of the protagonists today and offer their artworks for sale. The opening of the exhibition takes place on April 6. The works will be on display at the Rock Café gallery until the beginning of May.
The earnings from the art sale will go to these artists and to Sister Wang’s charity. She continues to provide medical care for disabled children and cares for the elderly, poor and abandoned in rural China.
