Prague Reggae Weekender in cooperation with New Port Ska, Reggae & Rocksteady Festival invites you to a culturaly educational evening, which will take place in Prague Rock Café.

And what can you look forward to? Legends of Ska – The Movie!

A world-renowned documentary celebrating the music, culture and passion of Jamaica as a newly independent country over 50 years ago. The film chronologically tells the history of Jamaica’s original ska and explains the significance of the island’s musical influence. Focusing primarily on the period 1962-1966, it combines old and contemporary concert footage, rare photographs, reports, artifacts, interviews and authentic home movies in 8mm format from tourists. Ska was Jamaica’s first popular musical export, emerging from the jazz clubs and dance halls of Kingston to cause a worldwide dance craze. Without ska, there would be no reggae.

After the screening, enjoy a Q&A with the documentary’s director Brad Klein followed by a Djs after party provided by General Moses (AU), Kilmarnock Steve (AU) & Prague Reggae Weekender Crew.
